Hair Transplant

Hair Transplant

A hair transplant is a surgical procedure used to treat hair loss by moving healthy hair follicles from one part of the body, usually the back or sides of the scalp, to areas where hair is thinning or balding. This technique is commonly performed to restore hair on the scalp but can also be used for eyebrows, beard, or eyelashes. There are two main methods: Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). In FUT, a strip of scalp is removed and divided into individual grafts, while FUE involves extracting individual hair follicles directly from the donor area. Both methods are performed under local anesthesia, and the choice depends on the patient’s needs, hair type, and the surgeon’s recommendation.

After the procedure, the transplanted hair typically falls out within a few weeks, which is a normal part of the process, and new growth begins around three to four months later. Full results are usually visible within 9 to 12 months. Hair transplants are considered a permanent solution to hair loss, but success depends on factors such as the patient’s age, extent of hair loss, and post-surgery care. Some minor side effects like swelling, redness, or scabbing may occur, but they usually resolve within a few days. Many patients experience improved self-esteem and confidence after a hair transplant, and in some cases, follow-up sessions or additional treatments may be recommended to achieve the best results.
